Although it features all of the members of the legendary indie outfit Ten Speed Racer, Dawns Eras Tides, is released as a solo record. "Why?" Some music journalists have asked. The answer from Dermot was simple, that they felt that there had been no real collaboration 'as a band' before the recording began- "Ten Speed Racer was the five of us together in a room in perfect harmony,(ha), but in the end it came down simply to logistics, really, I live in Norway, John in Australia, Pat, Terry and Joe in Ireland(Joe has since moved to France). To fully collaborate on a song would have taken months instead of it's usual hours, and these songs were pretty much written! Pretty much already fully formed. Anyway, what matters most is that the Album is GREAT because of THEM!"
Superbly produced by Joe Chester, who has produced some of the finest Irish albums in recent history, the record was recorded in many places around the globe- The Living Room and Cauldron Studios, Dublin, Astrosoundlabs, Bergen, Norway, and Mad Bear Studios in Perth, Australia.
To add to the global feel it was mixed by Joe in Nice, France, and mastered by Jørgen Træen in Duper Studios, Bergen.
